Homemade Cheese Pizza with Marinara Meat Sauce

My kids love pizza, and they think that mommy’s pizza is the best.  I make my own pizza dough and marinara sauce that make my pizza delicious.

Pizza dough recipe
4 cups flour
1 tsp sugar
1tbs dry yeast
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 1/2 cups water, warm
3 tablespoons olive oil

For a bread machine
Add water, oil,sugar, salt, flour and yeast in this order to the bread machine.  Select the dough setting and wait.

By hand
If you are doing your dough by hand, in a large bowl mix warm water (~110F degree), sugar and yeast together.  Once the yeast starts to form bubbles or increase in size add in oil, salt, and flour.  Knead the dough until it is smooth.  Form the ball cover with a towel and let it rest for about an hour.

Marinara Sauce recipe
1 onion
1 lb ground beef (you can use ground chicken or turkey for healthier version)
1 tbs salt
1tsp pepper
1 jar of tomato sauce
1/2 pack of spaghetti
1/4 cup parmesan cheese

Chop the onion, place them on a large warm oiled sauce pan and cook until golden on medium heat.

Place the ground meat on the pan with onions. Break the meat into small pieces with a spatula, add salt and pepper.


Cook the meat till there is no red (~2 minutes).


Pour the tomato sauce into the pan. Mix the sauce, meat and onions, wait for the mixture to boil. Then turn the heat down to low, cover the pan and let the sauce to simmer on low for about 15 minutes.


When the dough is ready, decided by two halves.  Roll each half into a pizza about 1/2 inch.  Spread the marinara sauce on top and sprinkle the shredded cheese.  I used, feta, cheddar, and parmesan.
