This is my very own doughnut recipe. The doughnuts come out airy, soft and delicious. In addition they are much healthier then the fried doughnuts.
Makes 18 doughnuts
Ingredients:
1 egg
1 cup milk, warm
1/3 cup olive oil
2 tbs butter, melted
2 tbs sour cream
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
3 cups of flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 1/4 tsp yeast
Cream Cheese Frosting
4 oz cream cheese
4 oz butter
2 cups powder sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Place all the ingredients in a bread machine and program the machine to a dough setting.
If you don’t have a bread machine, in a large bowl mix warm milk with sugar and yeast. Once yeast starts to react forming bubbles, add in egg, melted butted, olive oil, and sour cream. Mix all the wet ingredients. Then add flour, sat and baking powder. Mix everything together. Place the bowl in a warm place for about 1.5 hours. Once the dough double in size it is ready.
Preheat the oven to 375F degrees.
Once the dough is ready, get it out and roll into a log. Divide the log by two halves. Each half divide in two halves, and each half into 5 pieces. That will hake 18- 20 pieces.
Take each small piece and roll it into a “worm”. Connect two ends to make a circle. Place each circle in an oiled doughnut pan.
Place the doughnut pan into preheated 375F degree oven for 10-12 minutes. Once the doughnuts start to gain color on top it is time to get them out.
Glaze the doughnuts with a glaze or sprinkle them with powder sugar. For my doughnuts I used cream cheese frosting, since I had some already made. You can also spread Nutella or another glaze on top.
Enjoy!
